Old Skool Biker Party

Summer in Florida sure makes it hard to pry myself from the comfy couch but when I came across the flyer for the Old Skool Party, I figured it was time I traded in the AC for some fresh air and a little seat time.Event Flyer

Already knowing (one way or the other) we’d be getting wet, we didn’t even bother giving the girls a bath before heading out east to the Peace River Campground.  The perfect destination… once you get out-of-town, the ride is long enough to clear whatever cobwebs have been built up but not so long your bumm gets numb.

MikeGreg Borden organized everything and the party started at noon.   When we got there, it was still pretty early.  Only a few vendors were set up and people were still pitching tents.  The atmosphere… relaxed.   By 2 O’clock, bike games were starting and people gathered around the field.  Sun shining through the trees gave the (false) impression the rain might hold off for a while. First, the ball drop then the barrel roll and the weenie bite.  After one round in the slow race, the rain came down and everyone headed for the pavillion.

Heard the singers playin’, How we cheered for more.
The crowd had rushed together, Tryin’ to keep warm.
Still the rain kept pourin’, Fallin’ on my ears.
And I wonder, Still I wonder Who’ll stop the rain.

To commemorate the rain event, CCR filled the air, then it was time for a little Karaoke.  I don’t know what it is about Karaoke, but I usually shutter but  the first two girls that got up, blew me away.  Pretty girls with nice voices make it so much more enjoyable when your hiding away under cover, waiting for the rain to stop.

It was still raining when we decided to head out.  After we left the games kicked off again, trophies were awarded and from what I have seen in the threads on Facebook, the party continued and was a hit.

If you want to see more pictures, there’s  an album on FB… check’em out.
